The Weeg.org Philosophy

Weeg.org is a privately owned Web site. This site is designed, developed and managed by Michael Weeg in Denver, CO USA. Mike Weeg is solely responsible for the content of this site.

I bought the Weeg.org domain name in March of 2001 predominantly for the ability to have an E-Mail address that ends with @weeg.org. The .com and .net were already taken, the other alternatives were .cc, .info, .biz, etc... Needless to say, the .org sounded best to me. Every two or three years I buy it for another five years. Currently, I own the name until 2009, and I will be buying another five years in the next month or so.

This is the third generation of Weeg.org. It is hosted by Zurca Hosting. I hope you like it. (Take the Do you like the site? Survey.) For a very reasonable price they give me the ability to do a lot of magic I wasn't able to do at Qwest or Yahoo.

This site is best viewed with a screen resolution of 1024 X 768. If you are running at 800 X 600, it might look a little better if you hit the [F11] button on your keyboard and go full screen with it. I am using Firefox for my web browser and suggest you do the same. That is not a requirement, merely a suggestion. The site does work with Microsoft Internet Explorer (but not the Mac version). This site has not been tested with Netscape. The only real requirements for using this site are that you have good color depth (more than 256 colors) and a browser capable of frames and java.

The Weeg.org E-Mail Policy

Version 1  March, 2005

There are two types of E-Mail addresses that I offer here. If you are a Weeg, you can have one or both types. If you want a Weeg.org address, E-Mail me. We'll talk, there is no charge for an account.
  • E-Mail Alias:
This is the concept of setting an address [AT] Weeg [DOT] org that winds up in the inbox you specified when I set you up originally. For example YourName [AT] Weeg [DOT] org shows up in your UserName [AT] WhatEverTheHeck [DOT] com account without making any changes on your machine. The catch here is that you need to notify me if your E-Mail address gets changed because you changed ISP (Internet Service Provider).
  • Web Based and POP3 account:
This is an account that you can log in to from the Weeg.org home page and / or your Microsoft Outlook (Eudora, Lotus Notes, Thunderbird, etc...) mail client. This style of an account will work regardless of ISP changes (just like a Yahoo mail account). You don't even need an ISP if you want to access your E-Mail from a public computer. Never save passwords to a public computer!
Weeg.org E-Mail services are free of charge. They are for people who are in the Weeg family. Abuse (including but not limited to Spamming) WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. If my web host suspects that one of these accounts are used for spamming, the account will be disabled, the user will be blacklisted, and any information the Anti-Spamming people want will be turned over.

The Weeg.org Survey Policy

Version 1  March, 2005

All surveys are strictly confidential. No information submitted there is saved in such a manner that you can be identified as having submitted it.

I do not record your IP address on submission. I do drop a cookie on submission to keep you from taking the survey too often. The contents of this cookie is a little bit of code that says something to the effect of This user took survey on [date] at [time], don't let this user take the same survey again for a couple hours.

The Weeg.org Software Policy

Version 1  March, 2005

Since installing Linux as my primary operating system on my home machines, I have become a firm believer in the Open Source community. The best things in life really are free. All software running on this site is under the GNU Public License (AKA GPL) or a similar freeware license.

I do my best to ensure credit is given where credit is due and provide links to the source or the originator's Web site. If you find one of your apps on this site with out a link giving you credit, please let me know. I will correct the situation as soon as possible.

There is no pirated software running on this site.

The Weeg.org Image Policy

Version 1  March, 2005

Any images uploaded into the Photo Gallery are presumed to free of copyrights and not considered to be pornographic. This is a family oriented Web site.

I will not tolerate copyrighted or pornographic images uploaded into the Photo Gallery in either public or private galleries. If there is an image there that belongs to you, is objectionable, or if you have reason to believe the image is copyrighted, please notify me. I will remove the image as soon as possible.

The Weeg.org Popup Policy

Version 1  March, 2005

There are no popup advertisements on Weeg.org. I hate popups, as much as you do, probably more. I do not permit any type of paid advertisements on my website. If you think you have seen popup advertisements on Weeg.org, please consider the following possible causes:
  • Are the popups occurring after you go to an external website that is linked in one of the pages? If so, then the likelihood is that the website site itself is sending you the popup advertisements, not Weeg.org. In this case, please inform those responsible for the site that you object to their popup advertisements. Unfortunately, the type of advertising and design that other websites use is out of my control.
  • Are the popups occurring on the Weeg.org home page? If so, then it is possible that the site that sent you to Weeg.org generated an "exit" popup advertisement. Again, you will most likely want to inform those responsible that you object to these types of advertisements.
  • Are the popups occurring when you do a search? First consider the possibility that you have recently added a file-sharing program to your computer. If so, then you may have unknowingly installed "adware" which enables third-party popup advertising as you surf the web.
